Channeled Multicast for Group

چکیده
Multi-agent systems an bene t from the possibility of broadasting messages to a wide audien e. The audien e may in lude overhearing agents whi h, unknown to senders, observe onversations and, among other things, pro-a tively send suggestions. Current mainstream agent ommuni ation languages however la k adequate support for broad asting. This paper de nes the requirements for a form of broadast that we all hanneled multi ast, whose distinguishing features in lude the ability to distinguish streams of messages by their theme, and to address agents by their hara teristi s. We present an implementation based on multi ast IP, alled LoudVoi e. We show how hanneled multi ast ould be used in alternative to mat hmaking, and present in some detail a broad ast-based version of the English Au tion Intera tion Proto ol. Finally, we dis uss how we use the ability to overhear onversations in order to build innovative appli ations and we present a ase study whi h is a testbed for various types of agents and multi-agent systems.

Intra-Role Coordination Using Channeled Multicast
We propose group communication for agent coordination within “active rooms” and other pervasive computing scenarios featuring strict real-time requirements, inherently unreliable communication, and a large but continuously changing set of context-aware autonomous systems. Messages are exchanged over multicast channels, which may remind of chat rooms where everybody hears everything being told. ...
متن کاملGroup Communication for Real-time Role Coordination and Ambient Intelligence
We propose a form of group communication, called channeled multicast, for active rooms and other scenarios featuring strict real-time requirements, inherently unreliable communication, and a continuously changing set of contextaware autonomous systems. In our approach, rooted in multi-agent and team programming, coordination and cooperation are supported via “social awareness” and overhearing. ...
متن کاملA Novel Multicast Tree Construction Algorithm for Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks
Many appealing multicast services such as on-demand TV, teleconference, online games and etc. can benefit from high available bandwidth in multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh networks. When multiple simultaneous transmissions use a similar channel to transmit data packets, network performance degrades to a large extant. Designing a good multicast tree to route data packets could enhance the...
متن کاملMulticast computer network routing using genetic algorithm and ant colony
Due to the growth and development of computer networks, the importance of the routing topic has been increased. The importance of the use of multicast networks is not negligible nowadays. Many of multimedia programs need to use a communication link to send a packet from a sender to several receivers. To support such programs, there is a need to make an optimal multicast tree to indicate the opt...
متن کاملAlgorithm for an oriented multicast routing protocol
An increasing number of Internet applications and services will require the use of multicast in the near future. However, only a few techniques are currently used in networklayer multicast routing protocols, such as flooding, pruning or reverse path construction methods. We propose an algorithm to define a new way of multicasting. The base principle is to perform a limited multicast channeled a...
متن کاملPersonalized Information Delivery in Dynamic Museum Environment by Implicit Organizations of Agents
Today’s complex distributed systems call for novel methods for modeling, design and implementation. The “active museum” being developed within the PEACH project is an example of such a system. In order to model the system, a new pattern called Implicit Organization was defined that supports the coordination requirements of the agents that compose the system. This pattern was applied within the ...
